What Are Speciality
Contact Lenses?

Speciality contact lenses are a game-changer for individuals who find standard contact lenses unsuitable due to irregular corneal shapes, specific eye conditions, or complex prescriptions. These custom made lenses are crafted with state-of-the-art technology and materials, that offer crisper vision correction and comfort.

Types of Specialty
Lenses We Provide

At HineSight, we address a wide range of vision issues. Please click the arrows below to learn more about our specialty lenses.

Rigid Gas-Permeable (RGP) Lenses

Rigid Gas-Permeable (RGP) lenses are ideal for patients with astigmatism or more complex conditions like keratoconus. They provide crisper vision for eyes with irregular corneal shapes.

Scleral Lenses for Keratoconus and Corneal Grafts

Scleral lenses are larger in diameter and rest on the sclera rather than the cornea, making them suitable for patients with corneal grafts and more advanced keratoconus. They create a tear-filled vault over the cornea, bypassing the irregularly shaped corneal surface, and provide excellent comfort and stable vision.

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) Lenses

Ortho-k lenses are available for children, teenagers and adults who love the possibility of seeing clearly through the day without needing glasses or contact lenses. Ortho-K lenses are custom designed for you and they are worn overnight to gently reshape the corneal surface, helping to manage myopia. Molding effect is reversible over a few days when nightly lens wear is discontinued.

Hybrid Lenses

Hybrid lenses combine RGP lenses' clarity with soft lenses' comfort. They have a rigid centre that covers the cornea for clear vision and a soft peripheral skirt that helps keep the lenses in place and increases comfort. Hybrid lenses are primarily used as an alternative when standard RGP lenses do not provide sufficient comfort.

Toric Lenses for Astigmatism

Toric lenses are designed to correct astigmatism, where the eye does not focus light evenly due to an irregularly shaped cornea. This condition results in distorted or blurred vision, making it difficult for the eye to distinguish between certain shapes, such as 'o', 'e', and 'g'. Astigmatism is very common in the population and can be easily addressed.
